Azamanja Space is built around phone numbers and trust, so we take this seriously. This page says exactly what we hold, why, and how to get it changed or removed. If we collect something not described here, that is a bug — tell us.
1. Who you are dealing with
Azamanja Space operates the platform at https://azamanjaweb.malawibasa.com. For anything on this page, email support@azamanja.com.
2. What we collect
We collect only what the platform needs to work:
- Account details: your phone number, email address, display name and the trade or service you offer.
- Verification: the one-time codes we send to confirm a phone number or email belongs to you.
- Profile content: your photo, banner, description, location and the reviews and ratings you receive.
- Activity: the messages and booking requests you send, and the Wazamanjas you contact.
- Payments: your subscription plan, payment reference and transaction status, handled by our mobile-money payment provider.
- Diagnostics: technical error logs, used to find and fix faults.
3. Why we need it
- To show your profile and let others find you or hire you.
- To keep your phone number and email private until the subscription that unlocks them is paid for. Masking is a feature, not a bug.
- To deliver one-time codes, and — only if you turn them on — service notifications.
- To process and record subscription payments, and to support you if a payment fails.
- To investigate disputes, including messages and booking history.
- To keep the service secure and fix errors.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not rent it out to advertisers. If we ever need to share it beyond the cases below, we will tell you first.
4. Who can see it
- Other members: your trade, area, description, photos, ratings and reviews are public. Your phone number and email stay masked until you have a paid subscription.
- The Wazamanjas you contact: your name and the contact details you send them, because they need them to do the work.
- Our payment provider: enough to take the subscription payment and confirm it.
- Delivery providers: our SMS and email one-time code senders see the number or address and the message.
- Nobody else. We do not sell, rent or trade your details.
5. Phone numbers in particular
Phone numbers are the core of this product. We mask them in search results so that un-subscribed Wazamanjas do not lose customers to scraped numbers, and so that people outside the platform cannot harvest them. Please do not try to rebuild a number we have masked.
6. How long we keep it
We keep your account data while your account is active, and your messages and booking history for as long as your account exists so that disputes can be settled. Payment records are kept as long as Malawi's tax and accounting rules require.
When you close your account we delete or anonymise what we are not legally required to keep. Backups age out over time. Ask us and we will tell you exactly where your data sits.
7. Your choices
- See and correct your profile at any time in the app.
- Change the phone number on your account — it is verified with a one-time code, the same way it was at sign-up.
- Ask what we hold about you, and ask for a copy.
- Ask us to correct anything that is wrong.
- Close your account and have your data deleted, subject to the records we must keep.
Email us and we will action it. We will not ask you to jump through hoops.
8. Children
This is a marketplace for adults doing paid work. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has given us data, email us and we will remove it.
9. Security
Your data is sent over encrypted connections, contact numbers are masked by default, and payment details are handled by the payment provider rather than stored by us. No system is perfect, but a breach of trust here would end the business, so treat this as the priority it is.
10. Changes to this policy
If we change how we use your data in a way that affects you, we will tell you by email or in the app before the change takes effect. The date at the top of this page says when it last changed.
